Dr Lucas Sanders is a highly experienced and skilled cardiothoracic surgeon with a commitment to providing exceptional care to his patients. With a career spanning over 20 years, Dr Sanders has amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in thoracic patient care. In his current role at Hollywood Private Hospital in Perth, he manages a broad range of thoracic conditions, from diagnostic procedures to surgical treatment for lung, mediastinal, and pleural conditions.

Dr Sanders is a pioneer in the field of minimally invasive surgery, with over 95% of his practice completed using keyhole surgery. He specialises in keyhole lobectomies, having performed over a hundred Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) lobectomies to date. He is one of only a few surgeons in Perth applying this minimally invasive approach to lung surgery, which offers significant benefits to patients, including reduced post-operative pain and a quicker recovery time.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr Sanders is committed to early diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients. He works closely with colleagues in respiratory, radiology, and nuclear medicine to provide a comprehensive work-up for his patients. Originally from the Netherlands, Dr Sanders has practiced as a cardiothoracic surgeon since 1997. After practicing for 12 years in South Africa, he returned to the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven as a locum surgeon. In 2008, Dr Sanders became a consultant at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth before joining Hollywood Private Hospital in 2021. His extensive training and experience have made him a highly respected and valued member of the cardiothoracic surgery community.
