Mr Peter Maloney is an esteemed orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of hand and wrist conditions. With over two decades of experience, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1997 and subsequently focused on orthopaedic surgery. After completing his Hand Fellowship at the Victorian Hand Surgery Associates and the Sydney Hand Unit in 2006 and 2007 respectively, he served as a locum hand surgeon at the Sydney Hand Unit in 2008.
Following that, Mr Maloney pursued a Hand and Peripheral Nerve Fellowship with Professor C. Oberlin in Paris, France, from 2008 to 2009. Upon his return to Australia, he established a private practice and joined the Victorian Hand Surgery Associates. Currently, he works as a Consultant Hand Surgeon at St Vincent's public hospital, Dandenong Hospital (Monash Health), and provides regular services in Bendigo to support rural and regional patients.
Mr Maloney remains up-to-date with the latest developments in his field through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' continuing medical education programs. He also actively contributes to registrar education and is a prominent member of the Australian Hand Surgery Society, an organization dedicated to hand surgery research and education.
Outside of his professional commitments, Peter Maloney is known for his compassionate nature and commitment to giving back to society. He volunteers with Interplast, participating in hand surgery missions to Madang and Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. He currently serves as a member of the Interplast Clinical Governance Committee.
