Dr Vera Sallen

Dr. Vera Sallen is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon with a primary practicing suburb in Bendigo, 3550. She specializes in surgeries related to the hip and knee and is associated with The Avenue Hospital in Bendigo. Dr. Sallen completed her orthopaedic training in Switzerland, France, and Germany. She earned her qualification in 2006, mentored by the renowned shoulder surgeon Professor Christian Gerber. Dr. Sallen then pursued further education, completing Upper Limb and Reconstructive Fellowships at the Institut de la Main and APHP in Paris. During this time, she earned Diplomas in Upper Limb and Hand Surgery and Microsurgical Techniques. She also obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg in 2008, focusing on inflammatory arthritis of the shoulder joint.

To enhance her skills, Dr. Sallen completed an Australian Trauma Fellowship at Alfred Health between 2008-2009. She later pursued an AOA recognised Arthroplasty Fellowship between 2011-2012. Her extensive training and practical experience in major orthopaedic centers across Europe and Australia have honed her skills in minimally invasive hip replacement and other contemporary orthopaedic surgical techniques.

Dr. Sallen is fluent in French and German, in addition to English. Her clinical interests include knee surgery, hip surgery (including anterior minimally invasive total hip replacement), shoulder surgery, hand, and wrist surgery.
