Dr Max Leibenson

Dr. Max Leibenson is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasties. Born in Russia, he completed his medical degree at the Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel in 2004. Dr. Leibenson then underwent orthopaedic training at a major trauma referral center serving a population of one million people. In 2011, he relocated to Australia with his wife, Dr. Lilach Leibenson, who specializes in obstetrics and gynaecology, along with their three children. Dr. Leibenson completed fellowship training in Lower Extremity Arthroplasty in Sydney and subsequently earned full fellowship of the Australian College of Surgeons.

Practicing as an orthopaedic surgeon in regional Australia, Dr. Leibenson focuses on providing excellent outcomes in hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasties, as well as various upper and lower extremity elective and trauma-related procedures. He is a strong advocate of Enhanced Recovery after surgery and is known for mobilizing patients within hours of their hip and knee replacements. Dr. Leibenson employs meticulous surgical techniques, careful preoperative planning, and diligent postoperative care to minimize complications and infections.

He performs surgeries at Tamara Hospital, where patients can choose to go as private or self-funded, as well as at Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital for those on the public waiting list. Furthermore, he actively participates in the equitable on-call roster for emergencies at Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital. Dr. Leibenson and his wife have made Tamworth their home and are committed to being an integral part of the community for many years to come. In addition to English, Dr. Leibenson is fluent in Hebrew and Russian.
