Dr Franko Sardelic

Dr Frank Sardelic is a highly experienced and respected surgeon who specialises in breast surgery for cancer patients, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, melanoma surgery, salivary gland surgery and emergency surgery. Born in Croatia, he moved to Australia with his family when he was a child. He completed his medical degree at Sydney University in 1986 and went on to spend many years in surgical training at Westmead Hospital. In 1995, he was awarded his Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

After completing his training, he moved to Tamworth in 1997 where he has dedicated himself to providing quality care to the local community. At Tamworth Rural and Referral Hospital and Tamara Private Hospital, he has extensive experience in surgical procedures, including sentinel node biopsy for breast cancer and melanoma.

Dr Sardelic’s reputation as a skilled surgeon has led him to be appointed as the Medical Director of BreastScreen NorthWest Hunter New England in Tamworth. He is also a member of BreastSurgANZ, the Breast Cancer Trials Group and is involved in recruiting local patients for international breast cancer trials. Additionally, he is the Supervisor for Surgical Training in Tamworth and is an examiner for the University of New England Medical School.

He is dedicated to supporting patients through their treatment and recovery and ensuring they receive the highest quality of care. He is an active member of the Multidisciplinary Oncology Meetings at Tamworth Hospital and prides himself on working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve the best outcomes for his patients.
