Prof Mauro Vicaretti

Associate Professor Mauro Vicaretti is a respected and highly skilled vascular surgeon who obtained qualifications in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1999 and 2001, respectively. With a vast experience in all areas of vascular surgery, he specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular issues related to arterial, venous, and lymphatic systems.

Associate Professor Vicaretti has an unwavering passion for endovascular therapies related to both arterial occlusive and aneurysmal diseases, and he has developed a keen interest in the management of the diabetic foot. He has also made significant contributions to thromboembolic disease and vascular surgical education.

His involvement in the vascular biology laboratory at Westmead Hospital has led to groundbreaking research that has been essential in informing the development of better treatment options. Currently, he is serving as the Head of Vascular Surgery at Westmead Hospital, where he oversees the management of patients with complex vascular issues. Additionally, he is an examiner of vascular surgery for the RACS, which underscores his vast knowledge and expertise in this field.

Associate Professor Vicaretti is well known for his special interests in endovascular therapies for arterial disease, vascular graft infections, and vascular biology regarding the diabetic foot.
