Dr Matthew Evans

Dr. Matthew Evans is a consultant neurologist with subspecialty interests in neuromuscular disorders and neurophysiology. He is delighted to join Epping Specialist Group, where he will exclusively perform nerve conduction studies and EMG. Dr. Evans is well-equipped to see all patients requiring simple or complex nerve conduction studies and electromyography, including tests for carpal tunnel syndrome, upper and lower limb neuropathies, peripheral neuropathy, myopathy, myasthenia gravis, small fibre neuropathies, as well as other conditions involving tingling and weakness with unclear diagnoses. Matthew graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2003 and completed his neurology specialist training in central London, including at the world-renowned Queen Square, Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He subsequently undertook a PhD and clinical fellowship in neuromuscular diseases before starting work as a consultant general and neuromuscular neurologist in 2015 at Guy’s and St Thomas' Hospitals in London. Upon returning to Australia in 2022, he undertook a neurophysiology fellowship at The Austin Hospital, where he now works as a consultant neurophysiologist. He also holds a public appointment at The Northern Hospital. Dr. Evans has published extensively in the field of neurology and co-authored a textbook of clinical cases with colleagues from Queen Square. He enjoys teaching and has traveled to Mozambique several times to teach medical students. His international experience also includes work in Ghana and Nepal. Dr. Evans is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Association of Neurologists, the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the Association of British Neurologists.
