He went on to earn his medical degree (MBBS) from Monash University in 1979. Dr. Steiner then underwent specialist training at the Eye and Ear Hospital, obtaining his specialization in Ophthalmology in 1986.

He serves as a senior medical staff consultant at the Eye and Ear Hospital, where he imparts his expertise in ophthalmology.
