Meet Dr Liam Kavanagh, a highly experienced general urologic surgeon with a strong background in pelvic robotic surgery. Fully credentialed with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Liam has spent many years honing his skills both locally in Essendon, where he grew up, and abroad.
After completing a pharmacy degree, Dr Liam went on to get his medical degree from the University of Melbourne. He then worked as a junior doctor at Austin and Northern Health, before undertaking formal urological training in Victoria. Since then, Dr Liam has become a highly skilled surgeon with extensive experience in robotic, laparoscopic surgery, and endourology.
Dr Liam's training has taken him all over the world. He completed a Robotic pelvic urology Fellowship at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, England, and has also undergone additional training certified by the EAU and the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK. During his training, he has been mentored by world-leading surgeons such as Dr Matthew Perry, Dr Krishna Patil, and Professor Christopher Eden.
Dr Liam has a passion for understanding his patients and achieving the best health outcomes for them. He is also interested in men's health and treating ailments that can affect men. In addition to his extensive training and experience, Dr Liam has published his research in the urologic literature and presented it at the Australia and New Zealand Annual Urology Symposium. He has also completed a Masters of Surgery in urologic genomics through the University of Melbourne and is a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ).
