Mr Ashley Carr is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with special interests in shoulder, hip, and knee conditions. He completed his medical training at Monash University in Melbourne in 1997 and went on to complete his orthopaedic specialty training in Victoria. In 2007, he received his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
To further enhance his skills, Mr Carr pursued additional training in various renowned institutions around the world. In 2008, he spent a year at the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute in Toronto, Canada, focusing on hip and knee surgery. Following that, in 2009, he undertook further training in shoulder surgery at the prestigious Schulthess Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland. Later that year, he was selected for a Trauma Surgery Fellowship in Hong Kong, offered by the Orthopaedic and Trauma Care Foundation. These experiences allowed Mr Carr to gain extensive expertise in managing hip and knee conditions, including sports injuries, primary and revision joint replacement, as well as all aspects of shoulder surgery, including arthroscopic procedures.
Currently, Mr Carr works as an Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. His main focus is on the immediate and long-term treatment of major trauma patients. Additionally, he regularly consults and operates at Latrobe Regional Hospital in Gippsland.
Beyond his clinical practice, Mr Carr is dedicated to research and teaching. He has published several journal articles in his sub-specialty areas and currently serves as an assistant editor for the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Surgery. Furthermore, Mr Carr is an adjunct lecturer at Monash University.
