Dr Laurence Sullivan

Dr Laurence Sullivan is an experienced Ophthalmologist specialising in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the anterior segment (front of the eye). With over 30 years of professional practice, Dr Sullivan is recognized as a fellowship trained Corneal Specialist.

Dr Sullivan's expertise lies in various areas, including small incision refractive Cataract Surgery, Corneal diseases (including Keratoconus Cross Linking), Corneal Transplantation Surgery, and Laser Refractive Surgery. As part of his commitment to providing exceptional care, Dr Sullivan is associated with the Corneal Clinic at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where he teaches and trains Ophthalmology registrars and fellows.

Since 1994, Dr Sullivan has also enjoyed a clinical associate appointment at the University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology and the Centre for Eye Research Australia. He actively participates in teaching and mentoring in various countries, such as Cambodia, Fiji, and Vietnam. Dr Sullivan is a founding member of the RANZCO International Development Committee and has conducted the first-ever Ophthalmology fellowship examinations in Cambodia.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Sullivan serves as an Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and lectures at the University of Melbourne Department of Optometry and Visual Science. He has also been involved in major research projects at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and has authored several scientific papers and book chapters.

Dr Sullivan holds membership in prestigious medical associations, including the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS), and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
