Lauren Ross

Lauren Ross, a Clinical Psychologist and Director, embodies an engaging and caring approach to mental health care. With a focus on adults and older adults, Lauren has developed a comprehensive skill set in addressing a wide range of psychological issues. These include anxiety, social anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, borderline personality disorder, LGBTQIA+ related concerns, sex and intimacy concerns, body image and eating concerns, self-esteem and assertiveness, and gastrointestinal concerns.

Lauren's method of treatment is deeply rooted in collaboration and providing a safe environment for individuals to express their authentic selves. She emphasizes the importance of a strong and honest therapeutic relationship, viewing it as essential for exploring the root causes of a client's difficulties while also facilitating growth and change. Lauren believes that feeling understood and seen within a positive therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the success of therapy.

In her practice, Lauren employs a variety of evidence-based treatment models. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While she predominantly operates from a Psychodynamic framework, she is currently enhancing her skills in ISTDP under the mentorship of Clinical Psychologist Julie Cochrane.

Lauren's academic journey led her to obtain her Clinical Psychology training at the University of Melbourne. Her professional experience spans both private clinics and public settings, including notable work at Thorne Harbour Health and the Royal Children's Hospital. Lauren holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical), is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), and also possesses degrees in Arts and Law (BA, LLB), underscoring her diverse and rich educational background.
