Mr Keat Ooi is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in spine surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and completed his orthopaedic surgical training at the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Victoria and Tasmania. In 2017, he was recognized by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as a fellow.
During his training, Mr Ooi completed the AOA Clinical and Research Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at Austin Health and the Combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spinal Fellowship at Macquarie University Hospital. These fellowships allowed him to develop expertise in the treatment of spine conditions.
Mr Ooi's treatment philosophy revolves around delivering excellent multidisciplinary care to his patients. He has a special interest in adult spinal deformity and degenerative disorders, and he is particularly skilled in surgical procedures such as hip replacement surgery.
In addition to his work at Austin Health as a consultant orthopaedic and spine surgeon, Mr Ooi also runs his own private practice. He is passionate about teaching and actively participates in the education of orthopaedic trainees and medical students at the University of Melbourne.
