Jonathan Burge is a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeon with extensive experience in both cosmetic and craniofacial surgery. After finishing his plastic surgical training in New Zealand, Jonathan continued his education with two years of advanced training in craniomaxillofacial surgery. To further hone his expertise in paediatric craniofacial surgery, he spent a year at the renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Later, Jonathan worked as a head and neck surgeon in Cochin, India, where he performed the assessment and reconstruction of complex head and neck cancers. Additionally, he undertook a cosmetic surgical fellowship at The New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.
Currently, Jonathan serves as the section chief of Craniofacial surgery at The Royal Children’s Hospital. He is also the supervisor of the Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship program and focuses on cleft, craniofacial and general paediatric plastic surgery. He is actively involved in teaching and managing complex craniofacial cases. Moreover, Jonathan volunteers regularly with Interplast Australia and New Zealand, travelling to the Asia Pacific region to perform reconstructive surgery.
Jonathan is committed to providing optimal care to his clients in a relaxed and empathetic environment. He believes in the importance of establishing open communication between the surgeon, patients, and their primary care physician, ensuring the best possible treatment outcomes.
Apart from his work, Jonathan's interests include spending time with his wife and daughters, playing the guitar, long distance running, and yoga.
