As an Associate Professor and expert neurosurgeon, John Laidlaw provides top-notch care for patients with various conditions affecting their brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. He has built an outstanding reputation nationally and globally as a leader in cerebrovascular surgery, which involves aneurysms, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), and bypass for moyamoya, among others. Besides, he has extensive experience in managing brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, and complex cervical spine surgery.
For an admirable nine-year stint until 2017, John chaired the Board of Surgical Education and Training, which comprised the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia (NSA) and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). He even made significant contributions as a board member of both the NSA and the Board of Surgical Education and Training for RACS, which speaks to his immense influence and expertise in neurosurgical education and training. No wonder he deservedly bagged the NSA medal in 2017.
John is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the University of Melbourne's Department of Surgery, a testament to his outstanding academic achievements and contributions. As a result, patients and colleagues trust him to deliver high-quality and safe surgical care with excellent outcomes.
