Dr James Lynam is an accomplished medical oncologist with over 7 years of experience in improving cancer care through his clinical practice and research. Currently serving as the Clinical Director of Medical Oncology at the Calvary Mater in Newcastle and as a private practitioner at Newcastle Private Hospital, Dr Lynam's contributions towards enhancing patient care were recognized by his appointment as the Chair of the Clinical Research Network. This network focuses on improving clinical trials by implementing innovative strategies and technologies in Clinical Trial Units in the Hunter region.
Dr Lynam has a keen interest in research related to predictive biomarkers, therapeutic drug monitoring, implementation of novel information technology into cancer care, and the psychosocial impacts of cancer. His years of experience in conducting clinical trials were earned during his time as a Fellow in Clinical Trials at the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, where he was the Principal Investigator for several trials. During this time, he also gained invaluable knowledge and experience in researching the interaction between the immune system and prostate cancer, which has contributed to improving the management of prostate cancer patients.
