Assoc Prof Gordon Senator is an accomplished physician with over 45 years of experience in the field of endocrinology. He graduated from Melbourne University with a degree in medical science in 1975. He furthered his education and achieved recognition by examination with the MRACP. He then completed advanced training in Diabetes/Endocrinology and Internal Medicine (MRCP UK) in the UK. Upon his return to Australia, A/Prof Senator established the first tertiary-level endocrinology department at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 1980. He has since maintained an exceptional track record in the industry. He has been appointed by prestigious organisations like the World Health Organisation and International Diabetes Foundation to give plenary lectures and contribute to public health programs. He also maintains National Health and Medical Research Council appointments on expert panels in diabetes. Throughout his career, A/Prof Senator has made significant contributions to the development of diabetes management in Australia. He was elected four times to the Executive of the Australia Diabetes Society, where he helped in unifying Diabetes Australia and initiated the National Diabetes Services Scheme.
