Mr Gerald Quan

Meet Mr. Gerald Quan, an Australian consultant orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. With over two decades of experience, Mr. Quan is known for his expertise in disorders of the spine, particularly in primary and secondary spinal tumors, degenerative conditions, and complex deformities.

Mr. Quan obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 1998. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Victoria and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in December 2007. To further refine his skills, he pursued advanced post-Fellowship training in Spinal Surgery at renowned spine centers worldwide. Notably, he was the first Australian to receive the Asia Pacific Spine Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to share his knowledge and expertise in major spinal centers throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr. Quan has a strong background in academic research and teaching. He holds a PhD in bone and tumor biology from the University of Melbourne, awarded in 2005. Recognized for his contributions to orthopedic and spinal research, he has been a recipient of the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Post-Doctoral Fellowship since 2008.

Currently, Mr. Quan leads the Spinal Surgery service at Austin Health and serves as a senior consultant surgeon at the Victorian Spinal Cord Injury Service. He provides private consulting services in Heidelberg, Melbourne, and carries out surgeries at Warringal Private Hospital.
