Dr Geoffrey Brieger

Dr Geoff Brieger has been a prominent figure in obstetrics and gynaecology for over three decades, holding various roles both overseas and within Australia. After graduating from Sydney University in 1987, Dr Brieger trained at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and King George V Memorial Hospital for Mothers and Babies, where he eventually became Clinical Superintendent in 1994. He then embarked on sub-speciality training in urogynaecology, gaining certification in 2002, while continuing his private obstetrics and gynaecology practice and serving as a Visiting Lecturer and Clinical Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1995-1997.

After returning to Australia in 1997, Dr Brieger held several positions, including acting Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King George V Memorial Hospital for Mothers and Babies and Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Royal North Shore Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Brieger has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles, received research grants, and served as an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His research focuses on pre-eclampsia and hypertension in pregnancy, and he was influential in forming PEARLS, which raises funds for research in this area.

In 2015, Dr Brieger became a Committee Member of the Medical Council of New South Wales, where he now serves as a Council Member. The Council plays an essential role in public health and safety, ensuring registered doctors maintain proper professional standards and are fit to practice. Dr Brieger lives and works near North Shore Private Hospital and can quickly respond to calls from his consulting rooms or home. He is married with four children.
