Born in Singapore, Dr Chia pursued her medical training in Australia and holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and a Bachelor of Science from the University of New South Wales.

Dr Chia has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery and has undergone specialist training in this area at the Royal North Shore and Mater Hospitals, following her training at Westmead Hospital.
