Dr Emma Ivens is a well qualified and experienced cardiologist specialising in the field of cardiology. She currently practices in Chermside, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and is affiliated with North West Private Hospital. With a strong academic background, Dr Ivens completed her education at Monash University in 1997. She then pursued further training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where she completed her physician and cardiology training.
During her training, Dr Ivens developed a special interest in echocardiography and went on to complete a post-graduate fellowship in this field at the Prince Charles Hospital, University of Queensland. Recognizing the importance of advanced echocardiography techniques, she further enhanced her skills by studying at St Paul's Hospital, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2007, Dr Ivens returned to Australia and joined Queensland Cardiology, based at Holy Spirit Northside Hospital in Brisbane. She also serves as a VMO specialist at Prince Charles Hospital, actively participating in various cardiac research projects.
Dr Ivens has a wide range of expertise, with specific focus areas including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, complex aortic pathology, pericardial disease, and procedural echocardiography such as ASD/PFO device closure and percutaneous heart valves. She offers comprehensive cardiac consultations, including stress testing, stress echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography, and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Additionally, Dr Ivens holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, where she contributes to the education and training of future cardiologists. Her dedication to advancing the field of cardiology is evident through her involvement in groundbreaking research projects that push the boundaries of cardiac medicine.
