Dr Dulip Wettasinghe

Dr Dulip Wettasinghe is a psychiatrist practicing in St Leonards, Sydney, New South Wales. With a wealth of experience in internal medicine and psychiatric care, Dr Wettasinghe holds a medical degree from The University of Queensland. After completing his postgraduate studies, he dedicated ten years to working in internal medicine in both public and private hospitals in Sydney.

Dr Wettasinghe subsequently retrained in psychiatry, completing his psychiatric training at Northern Sydney Local Health District, primarily at Royal North Shore Hospital. He holds Fellowship with the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has further advanced his expertise by completing subspecialty training in Psychiatry of Old Age. Currently, he is pursuing a second subspecialty training certificate in Forensic Psychiatry.

As a staff specialist at Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, Dr Wettasinghe focuses on utilizing innovative therapies like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and ketamine for the treatment of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. His unique background in internal medicine equips him with the knowledge and experience to effectively treat patients with complex comorbid medical conditions.

Dr Wettasinghe has extensive experience in treating older patients with mental illnesses, including behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). He brings his expertise and dedication to using evidence-based treatments to improve mental health outcomes for his patients.

In his clinical practice, Dr Wettasinghe provides a wide range of services, including civil and criminal medicolegal assessments, as well as opinions and reports in accordance with MBS item 291. He has experience working with diverse patient groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations, non-English speakers, and emergency services personnel.
