Prof David Joseph is a highly accomplished and esteemed Radiation Oncologist based in Albany, Western Australia. With a diverse range of expertise and extensive experience in the field, he has made significant contributions to the medical community.
Throughout his career, Prof Joseph has been actively involved in various organizations and research groups. As a founding member of the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) in 1988, he has played a crucial role as a principal investigator and collaborator on multiple TROG studies. He also serves as the Australian Chair of RADAR and is a member of the ANZ BCTG, COGNO, AGOG, and AGITG Scientific Advisory Committees. Additionally, he is part of the Medical Advisory Board of Acta Oncologica.
Prof Joseph has made significant contributions to research, focusing on uncovering the genetic and environmental causes of diseases through the establishment of the Western Australian Research Tissue Network (WARNT). He has collaborated with the National Translational Cancer Research Network and the University of Oxford in the UK. With over 250 publications in peer-reviewed literature and active participation in more than 50 clinical trials, he has demonstrated his commitment to advancing medical science and improving patient outcomes.
In addition to his research endeavors, Prof Joseph is a Radiation Oncology Specialist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Genesis Cancer Care in Bunbury, with a visiting role in Albany. He also holds esteemed positions within academia, including Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Western Australia, where he oversees and guides post-graduate students. Furthermore, he has an Adjunct Professorship at Edith Cowan University and has been recognized as an Honorary Associate of the University of Sydney through the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre and Sydney Medical School.
Prof Joseph's main clinical interests revolve around Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, Brachytherapy, and Intra-Operative Radiation Therapy (IORT). A respected and dedicated medical professional, Prof Joseph has received substantial funding from organizations such as the NHMRC and Cancer Council for his research projects, exceeding $20 million. These projects encompass various areas, including Prostate, Breast, Colorectal, and Brain Cancer, Molecular Oncology, Exercise Studies, and Infrastructure.
