Dr Christopher Lehane

Meet Dr Chris Lehane, an experienced surgical oncologist and general surgeon who offers a range of specialty services including breast, endocrine, sarcoma, and head and neck surgeries. Dr Lehane began his surgical training in the UK and completed his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007. He then moved to Australia and completed his general surgery training, receiving his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2013. During this time, he was awarded the Clinical Committee Prize for his outstanding performance during training.

Following his general surgery training, Dr Lehane dedicated the next two years to surgical oncology fellowships at Liverpool and Prince of Wales hospitals. There he gained extensive experience in breast and endocrine surgery, sarcoma, and head and neck surgery. Today, he is a member of the Prince of Wales Hospital Breast, Endocrine, Head and Neck, and Sarcoma MDTs and continues to actively teach medical students, resident doctors, and trainee surgeons as a Lecturer in Surgery at the University of New South Wales.

Dr Lehane's current research interests revolve around thyroid cancer and sarcoma, for which he completed a Masters of Surgery at the University of Sydney. He is particularly committed to staying up-to-date with the latest knowledge and techniques in the field. As such, he recently served as the General Surgery convener at the Annual Scientific Congress held in Sydney in 2018, and he continues to supervise general surgery training for the Prince of Wales network. Dr Lehane's dedication to the field of surgical oncology and his passion for teaching ensure his patients always receive the highest standard of care.
