Dr Ambrogetti is an experienced medical professional with expertise in the fields of anesthesia, intensive care, respiratory and sleep medicine. He graduated from the University of Padua in 1979-1980 and began his medical career working in Anesthesia and as an Intensive Care Specialist in hospitals in Florence, Careggi, and San Giovanni Valdarno.
In 1986, Dr Ambrogetti completed the Australian Medical Council Examinations (AMC), followed by the Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1991. He then worked as a respiratory and sleep registrar at The Royal Newcastle Hospital from 1988 to 1991.
Dr Ambrogetti's passion for clinical research led him to complete a Diploma of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Newcastle in 1992. He went on to work as a General Medicine and Respiratory Consultant at Belmont Hospital between 1991 and 2002, as well as at Wyong Hospital from 1991-2000.
Dr Ambrogetti was also a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at The Royal Newcastle Hospital and John Hunter Hospital from 1991 until 2013, where he specialized in the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders. In fact, he has worked in the field of Sleep Medicine since 1988 and established the health service 'Sleep Medicine', where he serves as the Medical Director since 1991.
