Dr Vanessa Estall

Dr Vanessa Estall is an experienced radiation oncologist specialising in the field of Radiation Oncology. She currently practices in East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Auckland in 1996. Dr Estall completed her specialist training in Sydney and obtained fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) in 2007.

In 2009, Dr Estall pursued a post-graduate fellowship at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, England, where she conducted research on novel radiation therapy techniques for the management of central nervous system (CNS) tumors. As a result of her research, she was awarded an MD degree.

Dr Estall began her radiation oncology career at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where she gained extensive experience in her six-year role as the clinical lead radiation oncologist in the Skin/Melanoma Unit. She was also an active member of the Cranial Radiosurgery team. Throughout her career, she has continued to be actively involved in clinical research and is currently participating in various local and international clinical trials.

With a keen interest in specialist education, quality improvement, and governance, Dr Estall is currently serving as the Chief Accreditation Officer for the RANZCR specialist training program. Her dedication to advancing the field of radiation oncology and her commitment to providing high-quality patient care is well-known.

Dr Estall's expertise lies in the use of highly conformal radiation therapy techniques, such as cranial radiosurgery, Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and Tomotherapy. She has extensive clinical experience in managing a wide range of solid tumor malignancies. Her special clinical interests include central nervous system (CNS) tumors, as well as skin malignancies, such as merkel cell carcinoma, melanoma, and complex squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
