Dr Tom Ford is a highly skilled and patient-centered cardiologist specialising in interventional cardiology. He currently practices in Kanwal, Sydney, Australia. Dr Ford obtained his MBChB with First Class Honours and the University Medal from the University of Dundee in 2007. He subsequently acquired membership with the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in Edinburgh in 2010.
Dr Ford completed his specialist training in cardiovascular medicine in Sydney at Prince of Wales, St George, and Sutherland Hospitals, receiving his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2015. He worked as a cardiologist in Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour before pursuing subspecialty training in interventional cardiology.
During his subspecialty training, Dr Ford also completed a PhD at the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence within the University of Glasgow. He conducted an investigator-initiated randomized clinical trial focusing on interventional cardiology. Dr Ford successfully defended his thesis and received the highest distinction, the University of Glasgow's Bellahouston Medal, in 2019.
Dr Tom Ford is a fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) and the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (FRCP Edin). He is nationally recognized as the Young Ambassador for Australia to the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (EAPCI). His position allows him to contribute to the latest advances in minimally invasive testing and treatment of heart disease.
Dr Ford has a special interest in structural heart disease, particularly heart valve disease. He is skilled in interventional cardiology with a focus on coronary artery disease and structural cardiac interventions. Additionally, he specialises in cardiovascular check-ups and risk assessment.
In his career, Dr Tom Ford has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of cardiology. Some notable awards include the EuroPCR 2019 Winner Young Investigator 'PCR's Got Talent' - Best Abstract Award, the Graham Wilson Travelling Scholarship from the University of Glasgow in 2018, and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarship in 2016.
Dr Ford is dedicated to teaching and research. He supervises advanced trainees locally in cardiovascular research and serves as a proctor, providing training to other interventional cardiologists in complex procedures. Additionally
