Dr Tanya Newnham is an experienced general paediatrician specialising in behavioural and developmental paediatrics, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorders. She obtained her medical qualifications, including a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Medical Science, from the University of Nottingham in the UK. In 2002, Dr Newnham migrated to Australia and completed her paediatric training at the prestigious Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, earning her Fellowship in 2009.
Throughout her training, Dr Newnham gained extensive experience in various hospital-based rotations and also worked in specialist clinics at the Centre for Community Child Health. These clinics focused on managing issues such as unsettled babies, sleep problems, behavioral issues, ADHD, learning difficulties, and encopresis/enuresis.
In addition to her private practice, Dr Newnham holds an appointment with Eastern Health and works in Maroondah Hospital's Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit. In these roles, she manages acute presentations, provides medical student teaching, and runs a public outpatient clinic. Dr Newnham has also played a key role in establishing the private community-based multidisciplinary autism assessment clinic known as Passport Autism Assessments, located in Box Hill South.
