Dr Baines holds impressive qualifications in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Zimbabwe in 1983. He then pursued further education and training, completing his Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa in 1991 and his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1996.

Having established himself as a reputable practitioner, Dr Baines has held various positions in the medical field over the course of his career. He served as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at several hospitals in South Africa before relocating to Queensland, Australia. From 1994 to 1997, he held the position of Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Maryborough and Hervey Bay hospitals.

In 2001, Dr Baines joined The Wesley Hospital and began his private practice, focusing on minimally invasive gynaecology, endometriosis, infertility, IVF, polycystic ovaries, male infertility, and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. His expertise also extends to general gynaecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery.
