Sem Liew

Dr Sem Liew is a highly qualified medical oncology specialist with a primary practice in Richmond, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He is currently associated with Ringwood Private Hospital, Holmesglen Private Hospital, and Waverley Private Hospital. Dr Liew received his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2013.

During his advanced training in oncology at Austin and Monash Hospitals, Dr Liew gained valuable experience in the management and research of lung, genitourinary, breast, brain, and gastrointestinal cancers. His dedication to research is reflected in his extensive collection of published scientific papers, reviewed articles, and abstracts, many of which have been presented at local and international conferences. Dr Liew is often invited to speak at national conferences and serves as a reviewer for local and international oncology journals.

As a result of his exceptional research efforts, Dr Liew was awarded the Austin Medical Research Foundation Young Investigator Award. He currently holds the National Health Medical Research Council (NHMRC) postgraduate scholarship and is engaged in translational studies at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Melbourne.

In addition to his work as a medical oncologist and clinical researcher, Dr Liew also serves as a consultant general physician. He brings a unique perspective to patient care, applying his comprehensive understanding of the physical and emotional complexities that cancer patients face to devise patient-focused treatment plans.

Dr Liew is not only committed to maintaining high medical standards but also strives to provide culturally competent care. He is fluent in several languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, Hokkien, and Hakka, allowing him to effectively communicate with and support a diverse patient population. Furthermore, Dr Liew holds public appointments at Monash Health and Southern Breast Oncology, East Bentleigh.
