Dr Rajesh Maheshwari is a neonatal paediatrician based in Westmead, Sydney, Australia. He completed his basic paediatric training at the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. Following this, he pursued advanced training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and obtained the prestigious qualification of Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Paediatrics and Child Health in 2013.
Dr Maheshwari holds multiple qualifications, including a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Doctor of Medicine (MD), FRACP, and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Sydney. His MPhil research was focused on neonatal airway access, specifically endotracheal intubation, with the aim of enhancing safety measures for infants.
Currently, Dr Maheshwari serves as a full-time staff specialist in neonatology at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Westmead Hospital. In this capacity, he is responsible for the comprehensive care of critically ill newborns within the NICU. Additionally, he provides outpatient services to monitor the growth and development of infants during their early stages.
Dr Maheshwari's academic interests primarily revolve around improving neonatal growth and development. His ongoing research projects encompass the study of neonatal thermoregulation, the correlation between neonatal near infra-red spectroscopy and developmental outcomes in preterm infants, as well as a retrospective investigation into bone health among preterm infants.
Fluent in English and Hindi, Dr Maheshwari brings a multicultural perspective to his practice and is adept at communicating effectively with patients and their families.
