Dr Raghavendar Baburaj

Dr. Raghu Baburaj is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who holds a Medical Degree from India and completed his basic and advanced training in Psychiatry in the UK. During his eight-year tenure as a Consultant in the UK, Raghu specialized in managing complex mental disorders, challenging behaviors among individuals with Intellectual Disability, Autism diagnosis, and Epilepsy management. He is also experienced in preparing court reports for civil matters and offenses such as Arson and sexual offending.

Dr. Baburaj served as the chair of the ID faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Welsh division, and represented Wales as a regional representative for the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK. He has published several articles primarily related to the care of people with Intellectual Disability. Having obtained fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2021, Dr. Baburaj worked for almost three years at the Swanston Centre of Barwon Health as an Acute Inpatient Psychiatrist. He was responsible for leading the ASD diagnostic pathway and has won an award for innovation for Barwon Health.

Currently, at Geelong Clinic, Dr. Baburaj assesses ASD as an inpatient and outpatient. Additional neurodevelopmental disorders such as ID and ADHD are also his skill areas. Additionally, he accepts referrals for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, PTSD, and OCD. Raghu's practice is characterized by honest communication with patients and their families and a collaborative approach based on evidence-based practice. He is passionate about patient care and enjoys Badminton, Running, and Tennis in his local area.
