Dr Paul Sparks is a distinguished cardiologist and electrophysiologist with more than 20 years of experience. He currently serves as the Director of Electrophysiology at Epworth Hospital, where he leads a team of experts in the diagnosis and treatment of heart arrhythmias. Additionally, Dr Sparks holds an appointment as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne's Department of Medicine.
Dr Sparks received his MBBS from Melbourne University in 1988 and completed his FRACP in 1996. He went on to earn a PhD in cardiac electrophysiology in 1998 and conducted postdoctoral studies at the University of California, San Francisco from 1998-2000. Throughout his career, Dr Sparks has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Award in Research for The North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology in 1998, The Ralph Reader Prize for The Cardiac Society of Australia & New Zealand in 1998, the 2000 Chancellors Prize from the University of Melbourne, and the Premiers Commendation Award for Medical Research in 2000.
