Mr Craig Timms

Dr Craig Timms is a highly accomplished neurosurgeon with over two decades of experience in the field. He obtained his Medical Degree in 1996 from the University of Tasmania and began his career at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in 1998. While working at the hospital, Craig was trained and mentored by Dr Kevin Sui, a renowned Neurosurgeon, which sparked his interest in the field of neurosurgery. He completed his basic surgical training in 2001 and later gained experience as a Neurosurgical Registrar at St Vincent’s Hospital and Monash Medical Centre. In 2007, Craig completed his Neurosurgery training, which included a Master of Surgery and a year of clinical research. Over the years, he has gained a wide range of neurosurgical experience, including treating traumatic brain and spinal injuries, acute bulging discs, and chronic spinal degenerative conditions. He has worked at busy Tertiary hospitals and has had exposure to various patient demographics, allowing him to hone his skills under extreme pressure. Craig is passionate about staying up to date with the latest advances in neurosurgery and has a keen interest in emerging surgical assistive technology. He is also committed to sharing his knowledge with the next generation of neurosurgical trainees. He completed a Masters of Surgical Education in 2015 and was appointed supervisor in ‘Surgical Education and Training’ by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. This role requires him to keep up to date with the latest surgical techniques and treatments and to mentor and train future neurosurgeons. In addition to his surgical skills, Craig is known for his excellent communication skills and takes the time to explain things thoroughly to his patients. He strives to ensure his patients feel informed and their questions answered.
