Prof Paul De Souza

Professor Paul de Souza is a renowned medical oncologist with over 25 years of experience in the field. He holds a FRACP qualification, which he obtained in 1992 after completing his training in medical oncology at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals.

From 1994 to 1997, Professor de Souza served as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia before returning to Wollongong and St George Hospitals as a staff specialist until 2010. Currently, he holds the position of Foundation Professor of Medical Oncology at Western Sydney University since 2011, and he also serves as a Conjoint Professor at UNSW.

Professor de Souza has a special interest in the treatment of genitourinary, brain, and rare cancers such as sarcoma. He has made significant contributions to the field and currently holds several important appointments. He is the Director of the NSW Cancer Institute funded Translational Cancer Research Centre, CONCERT. He also serves as the Professor of oncology program, medical school at Western Sydney University, Director of a cancer research laboratory at the Ingham Institute in Liverpool, and Director of the Phase I trials unit at Liverpool Hospital.

Throughout his career, Professor de Souza has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, JMOs, registrars, and advanced trainees. He has provided supervision for numerous research projects, including those of PhD students. In addition, he has held executive positions for the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA) and the Specialists Advisory Committee in the Royal Australian College of Physicians for Medical Oncology.
