Nilakshi Weerasinghe

Dr Nila is a highly qualified Consultant Physician and Geriatrician with over 12 years of experience working in the Australian healthcare system. She holds a Medical Bachelor's degree from Sri Lanka and a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, having completed her physician and advanced training in Geriatric Medicine in Sydney.

Currently, Dr Nila is pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Sydney and is also a Conjoint Clinical Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. She has an extensive clinical background, having worked in some of Sydney's major hospitals including Westmead Public, Prince of Wales, Concord, Blacktown, Bankstown, Hornsby, and Norwest Private. Her research interests lie in the areas of orthogeriatric and acute geriatric medicine.

Dr Nila is well-versed in managing complex general medical conditions and specialised geriatric conditions such as dementia, delirium, osteoporosis, frailty, incontinence, and polypharmacy. Her expertise also extends to peri-operative and orthogeriatric care for the elderly. With a focus on comprehensive patient care, Dr Nila provides personalised and compassionate services, working closely with general practitioners to ensure excellence in quality care.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Nila has a particular interest in delirium prevention and management, diagnosis and management of dementia and associated symptoms, peri-operative care of the elderly, and falls prevention and osteoporosis management. With her in-depth knowledge and commitment to patient care, Dr Nila is a reliable and trustworthy healthcare professional who strives to improve the quality of life for her patients.
