Dr Mazhar Haque

Dr Mazhar Haque is a renowned gastroenterologist specialising in liver disease. He obtained his medical degree from Mater Hospital South Brisbane in 2001, marking the beginning of his illustrious medical career. Dr Haque then underwent basic physician training in Queensland and advanced postgraduate training in gastroenterology at Gold Coast and Mater Hospitals. His fascination with hepatology and liver transplant led him to further enhance his expertise through an 18-month fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada. Currently, Dr Haque holds the position of Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Sunnybank Private Hospital and serves as a staff specialist at Mater Public Hospital. He is highly regarded for his exceptional skills and knowledge in the field of gastroenterology. Additionally, he plays a significant role as the third-year MBBS medicine coordinator and Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Dr Haque has been recognized for his exceptional teaching abilities and was honored with the UQMS teaching award for his dedication to mentoring students. During his extensive medical practice, Dr Haque has developed proficiency in providing comprehensive general gastroenterology services. He specialises in conducting various gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Furthermore, he is highly skilled in performing Fibroscan™, an advanced liver scan that quickly and accurately diagnoses liver conditions by measuring the level of fibrosis (scarring) in the liver. Dr Mazhar Haque is now available for consultations at the newly developed suites of Sunnybank Private Hospital.
