With a focus on mood and anxiety disorders, chronic pain and pain management, and psychosomatic medicine, Dr Pols has developed expertise in a wide range of psychiatric conditions. He has extensive experience working with diverse patient populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, doctors, psychiatrists or medical students, gender diverse individuals, gay and lesbian individuals, individuals with intellectual disabilities, military and veterans, non-English speaking individuals, individuals with physical disabilities, and families.

Dr Pols is skilled in the assessment and treatment of conditions such as anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, complex trauma, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, and schizophrenia. He also has expertise in interventions such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), mindfulness, psychodynamic psychotherapy, supportive psychotherapy, and pain management.

In his practice, Dr Pols offers services such as opinion and report consultations, covered by MBS item 291, as well as shared care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and collaborative healthcare.
