As the lymphoma stream lead at St Vincent's Hospital, A/Prof Matthew Ku is a highly experienced clinical and laboratory haematologist who has focused his expertise on malignant haematology, with a particular emphasis on lymphomas and multiple myeloma. In addition to his extensive experience in clotting and bleeding disorders, A/Prof Ku is also the principal investigator on multiple important international clinical trials, displaying his commitment to advancing his field of study.
A/Prof Ku completed his medical degree at Monash University before undertaking his advanced training at various Melbourne and Sydney academic tertiary hospitals. He has since received fellowship awards from both the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Subsequently, his post-doctoral fellowship in lymphoma/myeloma involved managing some of the most complex clinical study patients.
Demonstrating his research and publishing prowess, A/Prof Ku's PhD dissertation focused on novel pathways in acute myeloid leukaemia, with his achievements culminating in multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and numerous speaking engagements at national and international haematology conferences. An active member of various industry groups including the Australasian Lymphoma Alliance and the American Society of Hematology, he is also frequently called upon to speak at the Leukaemia Foundation's Lymphoma Teleconference Forums.
