Mr Matthew Claydon

Matthew Claydon, a dedicated vascular and endovascular surgeon, received his comprehensive medical training at Monash University where he completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Bachelor of Medical Science with honors. His initial interest in medicine was particularly honed towards Respiratory and Cardiac medicine, Dermatology, and ultimately, surgery.

After undergraduate studies, Matthew commenced his medical journey at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, completing his internship and residency. This period solidified his interest in surgery, leading him to specialize in the rapidly evolving field of vascular surgery. He completed his general surgical training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, rotating across various hospitals including Frankston, Western, Wodonga, and Albury Base Hospitals, and underwent specialized vascular training in the UK's Musgrove Park Hospital. He obtained his general surgical fellowship in 2002.

Matthew then pursued sub-specialty training in vascular surgery with rotations at notable institutions such as The Royal Perth Hospital and The Alfred Hospital, culminating in a vascular surgery fellowship in 2005. His expertise includes a wide range of procedures from open abdominal and thoracic aortic surgery to minimally invasive treatments for aneurysms and varicose veins, and renal transplantation.

Remaining at the forefront of his field, Matthew continuously engages in professional development, attending and speaking at local and international conferences. He has also gained proficiency in advanced minimally invasive techniques and vertebral exposure, collaborating with notable surgeons like Mr. Greg Malham.

He is an active member of several professional societies including ANZSVS, MVSA, FRACS, Royal Society of Victoria, AMA, and The Royal Society of Medicine. Matthew’s commitment extends to ongoing education and training, ensuring he delivers the most advanced care in vascular health, reflecting his dedication to patient outcomes characterized by compassion and diligence.
