After completing his training and becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2004, A/Prof Jayaram worked as a consultant in the NHS for 7 years. In 2013, he relocated to Melbourne where he obtained his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). Currently, he works as a Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne, where he also serves as the coordinator for all Graduate Courses within the Department of Psychiatry.
A/Prof Jayaram has a special interest in adult psychiatry, particularly in the treatment of schizophrenia, mood disorders, addictions, anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, sleep disorders, and psychosexual disorders. He has published numerous papers in scientific journals and authored book chapters, showcasing his expertise in the field. A sought-after speaker, he is regularly invited to present at national and international conferences.
A passionate researcher, A/Prof Jayaram's interests include treatments for schizophrenia, Cochrane systematic reviews, and evidence-based treatments. Through his clinical work, research, and educational endeavors, he continues to contribute significantly to the field of psychiatry.
A/Prof Mahesh Jayaram is dedicated to providing high-quality mental health care to his patients, developing the next generation of mental health professionals, and advancing knowledge in the field of psychiatry. He is available for telehealth consultations and currently practices in Keilor East, Melbourne, at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road.
