Dr Lean Cheah

LP Cheah is a highly decorated and accomplished surgeon with a passion for short-term surgery and a special interest in a variety of procedures. After earning a scholarship to study Medicine at the University of Melbourne, Cheah graduated with First Class Honours in 1997, where he exhibited stellar performance as the top medical student and earned 23 prizes and awards in fields such as Anatomy, Dermatology, Occupational Medicine and Surgery & Medicine.

Cheah then traveled to England to complete his surgical training, where he surpassed expectations and soon became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2000. He later returned to Australia to earn his fellowship exams from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. Currently, Cheah serves as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Melbourne Medical School, a surgical examiner, and a tutor for the Minor Procedure Skills courses meant for GPs and doctors taking the AMC exams.

Cheah's passion for short-term surgery and his interest in a variety of procedures are evident in his experience and practice. The procedures he specialises in include pilonidal sinus surgery (Bascom operation), hernia repairs, ingrown toenails (wedge resection), among others. He also has experience performing gastroscopy and colonoscopy, surgery on certain dermatological issues, and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Additionally, he performs breast surgery, appendicectomy – both open and laparoscopic, thyroid surgery, and follows up on breast lumps and cysts.

Cheah's passion for surgery and the success he has had in helping his patients have solidified his status as a reliable and esteemed surgeon within the medical community.
