A/Professor Kurosh Parsi, MBBS, MSc (Med), PhD, FACD, FACP, is a renowned dermatologist, phlebologist, and vascular anomalies specialist based in Sydney, Australia. With extensive experience and expertise in his field, A/Prof Parsi is highly regarded for his contributions to dermatology and vascular medicine.

A/Prof Parsi currently holds the position of Head of the Department of Dermatology at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He is also the Program Head for Dermatology, Phlebology, and the Fluid Mechanics Research Laboratory at St. Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research. Prior to this, he served as a Staff Specialist in Dermatology and Vascular Anomalies at Sydney Children’s Hospital for a decade.

After graduating from the University of Sydney with an MBBS degree, A/Prof Parsi pursued further education and research. He earned a Master of Science in Medicine, specialising in thrombosis and thrombophilias, and later obtained a PhD in thrombosis, haemostasis, and fibrinolysis from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

A dedicated researcher, A/Prof Parsi has focused his investigations on various aspects of vascular anomalies and vascular dermatology. His basic science research has centered around the physiochemical properties of sclerosant foams and the interaction of detergent sclerosants with coagulation, antithrombotic, and fibrinolytic mechanisms. In phlebology, he has conducted clinical research on deep vein sclerosis and sclerothrombus, while in dermatology, his research has focused on pigmented purpuric dermatoses (PPD), vascular malformations, and reticulate eruptions.

Apart from his clinical and research work, A/Prof Parsi has actively contributed to numerous medical societies and organizations. He served as President of the Australasian College of Phlebology (ACP) from 2007 to 2017, where he also convened the ACP annual Scientific Meetings during the same period. He has also held key positions within the executive committee of the International Union of Phlebology (UIP), including Vice President from 2009 to 2013, Treasurer from 2013 to 2017, and President-elect from 2018 onwards.

A/Prof Parsi's special interests include venous disease, varicose veins, vascular malformations, ovarian veins, and vascular dermatology. He is highly skilled in various procedures such as endovenous laser ablation, endovenous glue ablation, ovarian vein embolisation, varicocele embolisation, vascular birthmarks and malformation interventions, and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy.

In addition to English, A/Prof Parsi is fluent in German, Persian, and Spanish, enabling him to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients and colleagues.
