Dr Katia Zubaran

Dr Katia Foresti-Zubaran is a consultant psychiatrist specializing in Old Age Psychiatry. She completed her psychiatric training in the Northern Sydney Local Health District, working towards the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). Dr Foresti-Zubaran also holds a Certificate of Advanced Training in Old Age Psychiatry. In addition to her extensive training, Dr Foresti-Zubaran has obtained further postgraduate qualifications in psychiatry, including a Master of Psychiatric Medicine through the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI). Her commitment to ongoing education ensures that she remains up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field. With a special interest in Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Cognitive Impairment, Psychosis, and Behavioral Problems in Dementia, Dr Foresti-Zubaran has developed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in these areas. Her expertises include anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, dementia-related disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, psychosis, and schizophrenia. Dr Foresti-Zubaran is a fluent Portuguese speaker and is able to provide care to non-English speaking patients, ensuring effective communication and understanding. She has extensive experience working with military veterans and understands the unique mental health challenges that they face. In addition to her clinical work, Dr Foresti-Zubaran is an accredited member of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age, further demonstrating her dedication to her specialty. She has contributed to the field through her research and has published over 20 papers on topics such as perinatal mental health, addictive disorders, transcultural psychiatry, and quality of life. Her services include opinion and report (MBS item 291), as well as being a Workcover provider.
