Dr Jonathan Young

Dr. Jonathan Young is a distinguished Orthopaedic Surgeon and expert in sport and joint replacement surgery. He serves as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital and five other hospitals in the Hunter Region. With over 35 years of experience, Dr. Young specializes in hip and knee surgeries.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine degree from the University of Newcastle, Dr. Young worked in major teaching hospitals in Sydney and practiced as a General Practitioner. He then underwent extensive surgical training and completed his orthopaedic training in 1994. Dr. Young furthered his expertise through fellowships in joint replacement and sports medicine in Edinburgh, Harvard, and New York.

Dr. Young is renowned for implementing minimally invasive surgical techniques, including the Anterior Approach Hip Replacement (AMIS), Knee ACL Ligament Reconstruction, and Computer Assisted Knee Replacement. He has been involved in designing joint replacement devices and frequently presents his research at international meetings. His techniques are highly reproducible and widely recognized in the community.

Born and raised in the Hunter region, Dr. Young has a deep connection to the community he serves. In addition to his clinical work, he has taught orthopaedic techniques extensively in South-East Asia.
