Dr Joanne Goh

Dr Joanne Goh is a highly skilled cataract and refractive surgeon, cornea subspecialist, and comprehensive ophthalmologist who recently joined the team at Waverley Private Hospital. specialising in routine and complex cataract surgery, including laser-assisted cataract surgery, Joanne is also a leading refractive surgeon performing a range of vision correction surgeries such as LASIK, PRK, clear lens exchange, and implantable contact lenses.

Joanne graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne and completed her internship at St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne. She then undertook her RANZCO ophthalmology training in Perth, Western Australia, and went on to complete a cataract, cornea, and external eye diseases fellowship in the United Kingdom. Joanne gained expertise in performing complex cataract surgery and treating corneal diseases during this fellowship. Afterward, she completed another fellowship in cataract, refractive, and cornea subspecialty at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. During her time there, Joanne received further advanced training in cataract surgery, laser eye surgery, and corneal transplantation.

As a cataract and corneal consultant at the Austin Hospital, Joanne is actively involved in training and supervising trainee ophthalmologists. She also lectures regularly and has been an invited speaker at various meetings, both local and international. Joanne has a strong commitment to continued education and is passionate about collaborative patient care. She believes in advocating shared care with referring optometrists and General Practitioners in stable, chronic ocular conditions.

Dr Joanne Goh has several notable awards to her name, including the EuCornea 2017 Best Oral Presentation Free Paper, NHMRC Public Health Postgraduate Research Fellowship, National Diabetes Research Scheme Novo Nordisk Grant, ORIA Travel Fellowship Grant, and Novartis Travel Grant.
