Meet Mr James Thomas, an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Hand and Wrist surgeries, affiliated with Waverley Private Hospital. James graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and subsequently pursued specialization in orthopaedic surgery. His pursuit of knowledge and expertise led him to achieve a Microsurgery Research Fellowship at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery in St Vincent’s Hospital, with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Melbourne under the esteemed supervision of Professor Wayne Morrison. While completing research, James's accomplishments earned him the Melville Hughes Scholarship in 2003 from the University of Melbourne and an NHMRC scholarship in 2004. Afterward, James undertook Hand Surgery Fellowships at internationally renowned hospitals such as the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Wrightington Hospital in the UK, and the Curtis National Hand Centre in Baltimore, USA. He returned to Melbourne in 2007, became part of the Victorian Hand Surgery Associates and holds a public appointment in the capacity of a Consultant Hand Surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital in the said city. James’ industrious efforts have earned him recognition; he's now a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a member of the Australian Hand Surgery Society and the Victorian Hand Surgery Society. Mr Thomas carries with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, making him an integral part of Waverley Private Hospital's exceptional team of medical practitioners.
