Dr Imre Hunyor is an accomplished cardiologist and researcher based in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from the University of Sydney, where he obtained his medical degree with honours after completing a degree in Advanced Science. He is also a Rhodes Scholar and completed his PhD at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Stefan Neubauer, specialising in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. Dr Hunyor completed his postgraduate training in cardiology and subspecialty training in Cardiac MRI at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Dr Hunyor's research focuses on the application of innovative imaging methods for the detection and monitoring of cardiac disease. Specifically, he is dedicated to the utilization of cardiac MRI as a non-invasive tool for analyzing the heart's structure, function, and biochemistry. In addition to his research, Dr Hunyor serves as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney Medical School, where he provides training to physicians at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He also plays a role in supervising and running the teaching program for Basic Physician Trainees and acts as an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
