Dr David Wheatley is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in the management of conditions affecting the lower limb, including surgery of the hip, knee, foot, and ankle. Educated in Queensland, David attended the University of Queensland Medical School and gained experience as a junior and senior medical officer in various Queensland Health Hospitals.
In 2015, David became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) after completing his specialist training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). He developed a particular interest in lower limb surgery during his years as a registrar, leading him to pursue subspecialist training under Professor Wilson Wang at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
During his time in Singapore, David honed his skills in primary hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as managing complex revision surgery. Upon returning to Australia, he joined the team of Professor Paul Smith at The Canberra Hospital, where he gained experience in hip and knee reconstruction, complex trauma, and foot and ankle surgery.
Currently, in addition to his role as a Staff Specialist at Redcliffe Hospital, Dr David Wheatley serves as a Visiting Medical Officer at Peninsula Private Hospital. He maintains his affiliation with the RACS and AOA.
