A/Prof Daniel Moon

Daniel Moon is a proficient urologist and Director of Robotic Surgery at Epworth Healthcare, holding the position of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Melbourne. He specialises in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, managing prostate cancer and its consequent treatments. With over 1000 major laparoscopic +/- robotic procedures, he is well-versed in his field. In 2008, Mr. Moon published the first Australian series of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. He performed the first Australian robotic cysto-prostatectomy soon after in 2009. In 2011, he presented the largest Australian pyeloplasty series. Moreover, he established a robotic partial nephrectomy program at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and published the first Australian series of this procedure in 2014.

Mr. Moon convenes the biennial National Kidney and Bladder Cancer Symposium and is renowned for his surgical masterclass in robotic prostatectomy followed by that of robotic partial nephrectomy in 2011 and 2012, respectively. He has also developed a comprehensive training and credentialing document for surgeons to learn robotic surgery, is involved in fellowship training for robotics, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Urology International.

In addition to his expertise in surgical robotics, Mr. Moon has established a successful urological prosthetics practice aimed at enhancing the continence and potency of men who have undergone prostate cancer treatment. He co-authored the first multicentre Australian series of suburethral male slings and presented the largest local series of such slings and artificial urinary sphincters at the Urological Society's Annual Scientific Meeting in 2012. He also published the largest Australian series of artificial urinary sphincter insertion in 2014.
